Buffy, Dracula and Blade, these movies all present the basis of gothic horror. All of the main characters; Dracula, Buffy and Blade, all have different physical appearance and supernatural powers. The conventions form a basis for the genre gothic horror, with some adaptations between movies and TV series. These conventions that change are the factors that influence the viewers to view these movies
Physical appearance
Dracula, Buffy and Blade use vampires to explore humanities inner monster. The portrayal of Dracula through Dracula, Blade and Buffy the Vampire Slayer vastly changes between each movie, but still keeps some of the base conventions. Traditionally, vampires are called Counts, live in Transylvania and live in castles. Physical appearance includes fangs, pale skin, sleeping in coffins and have dark brown/black hair with the power of being immortal. This superhuman strength makes them differ from normal human beings. Blade and Buffy both have accelerated healing processes. This conjures the sense of fear within the character, however, in Blade he does not have any weakness of normal vampires and is immune to garlic and other traditional charms to fend off vampires. Blades has an enzyme in his blood that also makes him immune to vampire bites. In Buffy the Vampire Slayer she can sense demons or vampires this cannot be done by Dracula or Blade. In Buffy and Dracula both counts can shapeshift. In Buffy the count shapeshifted under the door and in Dracula the count shape shifted onto a bat. Blade hunts vampires in his city and being a half-vampire he still needs to drink
