Its inevitable consequences included the territorial, economic, cultural and religious expansion of Europe, which took place in the 16th and 17th centuries. This expansion was fueled by a wide range of social and political factors, which included search for gold and slaves, development of the trade, and spreading of Christianity. Due to the growing demand in money, combined with the depletion of the available in Europe precious metals deposits, the states needed the additional supply of gold and silver.
