During my time in English class my teacher had assigned for us students to read two different books, one which would be The Kite Runner and the other book which was call Funny in Farsi. The kite Runner is about the main character, The Kite Runner is the story of Amir, a Sunni Muslim, who struggles to find his place in the world because of the traumatic childhood events he's been through. An adult Amir opens the novel in the present-day United States explaining the tragic events, and then the novel flashes back to Amir's childhood in Afghanistan. The book Funny In Farsi Funny Is starting the main character, Firoozeh, a little girl who moved from Iran to America. When she was seven, her parents, Kazem and Nazireh, and her brothers and she all moved to Whittier, California in search of a better life. Both of these books are similar in ways because the main characters and their families both moved to America from middle eastern countries for better opportunities from the hard rush life back in their home country. Amir, who is from Afghanistan moved out with his father Baba because of the Soviet invasion. Baba couldn't stomach the idea of his country being ruined physically and ideologially by the Communists; so he leaves before it is too late. As a capitalistic businessman, his life and Amir's would have been in danger. …show more content…
