Hello readers, my book for this blog is Took by Mary Downing Hahn. This book is a mystery of the old cabin in the woods where Old Auntie lives. Sarah, Plain and Tall by Patricia McLachlan is a historical fiction which takes place in a rural place, such as, the prairie sometime during the 1800’s. This book centers around characters Anna, the 12 year old narrator, Caleb, Anna’s little brother, Jacob, the children’s father, and Sarah Wheaton, papa’s new wife. Anna, Caleb and their father, Jacob are so stricken by their mother’s death that they long for the need for her void to be filled. The children soon become worried for their father because this almost seemed impossible. Anna’s father, Jacob was having a hard time raising his family and taking care of his farms’ needs after the passing of his wife, so he began to search for another wife.
Anne Morgan was the daughter of J.P Morgan; she helped keep the strike on the front page of the newspapers and gave the strikers hope. The mink brigade was other wealthy or socially privileged woman who helped the cause of the strikers. With this help the strikers weren’t being brutally beaten as often and by December some factories had given into striker demands. What caused Anne Morgan and mink brigadiers to reconsider their position was the refusal of better pay and fewer work hours, but without union only shops. Anne Morgan and others felt that this was an attack on their social status and way of life, she resigned from the strike union along with others.
The book A Thousand Splendid Suns was to show the evil acts that happened in Afghanistan in the end of the 1950’s to almost present day. The books author, Khaled Hosseini mainly showed the unjust treatment of the women in Afghanistan. A Thousand Splendid Suns vividly describes how the afghan people were tortured. This book has high and low points with many plot twist that will keep most people off of their seats.

It is often said that slavery is the most important conflict in American history. Sarah and Angelina Grimke were two women who noticed the horrible injustices done against the slaves and decided to do something about it. The work of the Grimke sisters helped spread the news of abolitionism and women’s rights as well.
Compare and Contrast Essay Both the story “Don’t Give Up The Fight” and the poem “Making Sarah Cry” have a common theme, which is being different. In “Don’t give Up The Fight,” Ava must deal with the fact that she is different than all the other people on her track team because she is the only girl. The main character in “Making Sarah Cry,” gets into a bicycle accident later in the story, which leaves him feeling different than all his friends. While both of these stories have a similar theme, the character’s actions influence others differently.
