Marginalisation is an important issue presented in both the films ranging from mental disabilities to racism. The films took a different way to present the problems for example in Gran Torino – Walt was a racist who disliked the Hmong community and slowly accepted them for who they are. In Gran Torino Walt is considered an outcast by his neighbours because he was different and disliked by his family because he is stereotyped as an old fashioned man “dad is still living in the 1950s.” Of Mice and Men took a different approach to the issue by portraying marginalisation as a way of nature and the strong is supposed to be suppressing the weak.
