Christopher Hibbert’s book “Redcoats and Rebels” is a narrative of the American Revolution told from the British point of view. The book incorporates many facts and material that most readers are not too familiar with as many books on the American Revolution are told from the American side. Discussing the war from this point of view illustrates the growing tensions This perspective provides information necessary to understand the struggles and how the British actually lost the war. This paper presents two essays written by Gordon Wood and Barbara Smith during the nineteenth century on the American Revolution. Both historians have different points of views and interpretation on what this revolution was really about. The purpose of these writings is to give a clear idea of the American Revolution to the readers and to make them closely think on how it affected people’s life and the society. On one hand, the historian wood declared that the revolution ended monarchy and led the society to democracy. He believed that this revolution was a good start to a new life for all Americans.

A good author is able to take a chunk of people with different likes, dislikes, backgrounds, and political views and make them unite together to believe what the author is trying to say. Bryan Stevenson is a good author. Stevenson wrote about his experiences as a lawyer who is primarily faced with criminals looking to appeal their sentence to shorter ones or to prove their innocence in his book called Just Mercy. The American Revolution was the first of its kind. It opened the ways an oppressed country could be liberated through sacrifice and dedication. It’s message inspired other oppressed groups to revolt, no matter how bad the odds, such as the Mexican and Haitian Revolutions. They all reinforced the ideas that the spirit of the people and of the oppressed could overcome all odds, whether its economic might, military might, or any other invisible strength. Throughout this literary narrative the main character, Winston Smith, struggles to survive in this society as he struggles to fit the conventional mold that is preached.
The three main ideas from the Communist Manifesto The Communist Manifesto, written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, had little to no influence when it was first published in 1848 for the Communist League. However, soon after Marx and Engel’s other writings on socialism became published it grew in popularity, and was considered a standard text of the time (Brians, 2006). With Marx’s radical ideas, and Engels’ thorough writing, they were able to convey how they were individual of the other socialists of the time and elaborate on their idea socialism and how it would inevitably be achieved. The three main ideas from The Communist Manifesto are class conflict, ephemeral capitalism, and inevitable revolution.
Karl Marx was a German philosopher and economist in the 18th century. He is known for his book the Communist Manifesto that was published in 1848. Marx believed that a revolution of the working classes would over throw the capitalist order and creates a classless society. The Industrial Revolutions led to the proletarianization; his partner Friedrich Engels explained why the changes created by the proletarianization of the worker would develop into a huge problem for industrial societies. I do believe that Karl Marx’s vision of communism in the Communist Manifesto could re-emerge as a popular and workable philosophy of social, economic, and political organization.
