Men, Women and their Language All friendships are different. There is a large range of different types of friendships for both men and women. Women most often solve their problems on their own by talking about them. Meanwhile, men tend to use logic and reason to communicate and relate. While woman’s friendships are difficult, men’s friendships are simpler and less intense. The men in Deep Down Dark by Hector Tobar possibly experienced the most difficult time in their lives but learned to maintain themselves and put in place a strategy that lead them to their survival. They’re composure did not change and they managed to all get along, something women would have struggled to do. In “Sex, Lies and Conversation” the author explains how “bonds between boys are less intense” (para 11). Several events and conversations in Deep Down Dark prove Tannen’s statements to be true. “‘What kind of huevon are you’ He asks. “We’re going to climb up to 400 just to die there?” And then he bursts out laughing’” (para 2).
