In the passage “Noah Count and the Arkansas Ark” by Gary Blackwood; the Appleton family demonstrates to the son the that even without proper education there is still other kinds of education even though he doubted them. The reason he doubted them was that they never had a proper education that is taught at school. The father’s nickname was Noah because he was building a raft to escape the flood that was coming into Mississippi. The way the family was able to make the narrators view about their education change was due to that it was raining even though there weren’t any clouds, their early preparation, and that they found good land to wait out the flood and got back to their farms. Even though the narrator stated that there were no clouds the rain and the flash flood still happened.

The boy in the story learned the lesson that even though his family members aren’t educated the way he is, doesn’t mean they aren’t smart. The boy’s views of his family change as the story develops. When the story begins, the boy thinks that his family isn’t very scientific. In the middle of the story, he Is embarrassed by them.

In the short story “Noah Count and the Arkansas Ark” the author illustrations the values of education and how the lack of it can change your outcome. The younger boys father in the plot of the story was made fun of because of his expertise in building, but because he was informally educated he did not have to suffer the consensus of the flood. Although the flood was a major outcome though the story the main character changes his feeling from being nervous, to preparing for the big flood and watching his father being made fun of, to being safe because of the sacrifices he made. In the beginning of the passage the main character is nervous, scared and anxious for what is to come.

Such are the cases in John Updike’s “A&P” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Adam Raised a Cain”. In Updike’s “A&P”, conflicting values between two generations accelerate as nineteen-year-old Sammy decides to quit his job. This art was 1 out of 36 in a series for the Windsor Castle in England. Mr. West lived to be 82 years old and was the first Americans to become a success on the foreign market. He would become a historical painter for King George III and president of the Royal Academy of Arts.
