A Utopia, a perfect society is something everybody dreams about but it is not easy to achieve. There have been many groups that have tried to achieve it. Many of these groups put in everything they can to try and create a utopia for their people and it still doesn’t work out. Trying to create a utopia would be extremely difficult for even the smartest people.

Utopias are places where everything is perfect. A society where throughout there lacks no conflict, war, or fighting though, instead there is equality. Furthermore, utopias are places where people can live in harmony. The creation of utopias, or perfect societies are attempted, though all the ones in the past have failed. To this day utopias exist, but they all will diminish to a previously chased dream.
Democracy, in short, is a government for the people, ran by the people. Democratic ideals refer to standards and persons who look to not only expand democracy, but expand it to the whole of the population. Democracy was the keystone to the budding America; it was what set her apart from other nations. However, citizens looked to improve the coverage and quality of democracy. Throughout the early 1800s to around 1850, reform movements began to sweep the nation.
Utopia is Impossible Many people want to build an utopian society, but nobody succeed. So we need to know why that can not be successed. At this point, I found that in a book called written by Lois Lowry, people wanted to build an utopian community. They thought this is utopia, but in fact this is dystopia because people in the community have to follow tons of rules, they cannot see colors and they don’t know what is love.
Considering the family structure, both of them are unique. In China, no matter in the past or in the 21st century, each family member has an enormous relation network with everyone in the big family. The big-family is one of the typical Chinese cultures which means a family with parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles. Although all the members may not live together, when the harvest season come and during the Spring Festival, they must go back home from cities for celebrating the New Year with elderly parents and siblings, as a permanent historical convention (Peng 2003). However, in the Giver, there is no such thing like grandparents that all the elder people live in the House of the Old.
Will there ever come a time where our world is filled with peace, happiness, fairness, and prosperity for every man, woman, and child? To reach an ideal society, free from monumental problems such as poverty, hunger, and disease seems almost impossible to extinguish or let alone control to a preferred state. This ideal world that is widely sought after through history and hasn’t yet arrived or has been fully understood. We have to question how far away we are from that reality, whether we require new ideas and strengthen our efforts or to ask if it’s even possible to achieve such a perfect world – a Utopia.
The movie “The Giver” sets place in a community that is very different than our own. The film is shown in black and white which represents the community and how they live their lives. At the head of the community is the elders who have come up with the rules for the community and choose the jobs assigned to the children. In charge of the elders is the chief elder who is like the president of the community; has the last say. One of the elders is very unique from all of the rest, he is the receiver.

The ideas surrounding utopian and dystopian societies are popular now because our society is getting very advanced in technology and futuristic ideas. They’re showing us possible outcomes of what our world could look like in 20, 50, or even 100 years from now. They also show us the positivity and negativity that can come from the future. Some ideas may seem unrealistic now, but life is a rollercoaster, and you never know what could happen next. For example, in the short story, it portrays a society in which everything and everyone is set equal.
Throughout Utopia, Thomas More’s opinion regarding the relationship between humankind and animals was prevalent through Hythloday’s perspective. Particularly, this correlation was seen in instances surrounding war, and crimes. Although humans were seen as the superior, more intelligent animal, More believed that humans often reverted back to and were considered animals when they gave into their vices (More). For example, in Utopia, Hythloday brought up his view in regards to punishment for crimes.
Do you think that living in a Democratic Society with your own choices is better than the choices being chosen for you? If you live in a Democratic Society you will be able to do what you want. Yes, there is rules you have to follow by but you get your own choices in life. If you are in a Utopian Society, you don 't have love, opinion, freedom.
The Perfect Place The society Lowry depicts in The Giver is a utopian society; a perfect world as envisioned by its creators. It has removed fear, pain, famine, illness, conflict, and hatred, all things that most of people would like to eliminate in today’s society. In this utopian community, major problems are rare, only minor problems such as scraping your knee would happen. Even when this would happen there would be medications sent to them.
