Will there ever come a time where our world is filled with peace, happiness, fairness, and prosperity for every man, woman, and child?
To reach an ideal society, free from monumental problems such as poverty, hunger, and disease seems almost impossible to extinguish or let alone control to a preferred state. This ideal world that is widely sought after through history and hasn’t yet arrived or has been fully understood. We have to question how far away we are from that reality, whether we require new ideas and strengthen our efforts or to ask if it’s even possible to achieve such a perfect world – a Utopia.
But what is a Utopia exactly? The term “Utopia” was first coined from a man named Thomas More around 1516 as it bears the same name of his novel.

Since then, “Utopia” became shorthand for an ideal or perfect place to live in. But notice, the word utopia literally means “no place” as it derives from the Greek language, it begins with ou which translates to “no” and topos meaning “place”. Thus we get a word that signifies an imaginary thought. Even Thomas More knew that this ideal fantasy does not exist. Instead, wherever we look there is always evidence of imperfection, from the constant wars to the corruption of the government there is always a shadow to the light. For example, one might view one regulation as a viable law while the other will oppose it due to their dissimilarity in the situation. There is always a difference amongst us, to create a perfect world it must have the perfect people.
