The novel "Inside Out and Back Again" is a novel about a 10-year-old girl named Ha, who lived in Vietnam. She was forced to leave her country because of war. Ha's experience as a refugee is an example of the universal refugee experience. A refugee is someone who is forced to flee their homes to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. Ha has to flee her country and travel to a foreign country just like many others. Her settlement there is not welcoming either. Ha's world is flipped inside out just like many refugees who have also been through Ha's situation. Ha fled her homeland, Vietnam, to escape from danger. While doing so, she entered a whole new world. Like many others, her country was at war. As said in "Refugees: Who, Where, Why","People become refugees for many reasons. The number one reason is war." This is related to Ha's experience, as she also had to flee her country because of war. The Vietnam War separated the country and also tored her family. Refugees came from all over the world(I.e. Asia ). In Ha's case, she now has to settle in America. As said in "Inside Out and Back Again", "The man behind us whispers, Choose America, more opportunities there, especially for a family with boys ready to work." Ha's family moved to America as illustrated in this evidence. Ha is not the only refugee that settled in a foreign land. Many other refugees have also. As said in "Refugees: Who, Where, Why","Some refugees cannot return home, nor can they stay in their country of asylum. They must resettle in a new country." Settling in a new country is a struggle.
