Have you ever gone to school where people stare at you all the time? Or kids run away from you screaming in the playground?Well, in the books, Wonder by R.J Palacio and Fly away home by Eve Bunting, August Pullman also known as Auggie from “Wonder”, and Andrew from “Fly Away Home” Who lives in a airport, are both similar and different in many ways, because of how hopeful they are, brave, and of how different they look. Auggie and Andrew are very similar because of how hopeful they are. In one hand, Andrew is hopeful we will get a home because he lives in an airport. In the book “Fly Away Home” Andrew stated, “Then I remembered the bird. It took a while, but a door opened. And when the bird left, when it flew free, I know it was singing” This shows that Andrew is hopeful because, when the bird got set free, he knew that the bird was singing, on that hand, he is hopeful that he will get a home and he will feel just like the bird when the bird flew free. Auggie has a facial deformity which impacts his everyday life. In the beginning of the book he states, “ I know i'm not an ordinary 10-year-old kid. I mean sure, I do ordinary things. I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball. I have an XBox. Stuff like that makes me ordinary. I guess. And I feel ordinary. Inside. But I know ordinary kids don't make other odarary kids run away screaming in the playgrounds. I know ordinary kids dont get started at wherever they go.” This proves he has a facial deformity because he gets started at wherever he goes and, kids run away screaming in the playgrounds. His eyes may be where his cheeks are supposed to be. He may not look normal. One the other hand, Andrew is very different. He is “normal” He doesn't make other kids run away screaming, or he doesn't get started at wherever he goes. He is just a “Normal” kid. For those reasons that is why they both look very
