The term prejudice is defined as a “preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience,” while discrimination is defined as “the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.” Even though these terms are very similar, they differ considering that prejudice is an attitude regarding a group or individual, different from discrimination, which is an action taken against the group or individual. In order to be well informed about certain issues, a trustworthy source is needed in order to gain more knowledge on the subject. The Stanford article, Discrimination and Prejudice, contains more information on the desired topic since it consists of information consisting of both discrimination and prejudice while the other article only contains information on prejudice. The Discrimination and Prejudice website includes many articles and research papers which address the historical aspects and ongoing issues of discrimination and prejudice in the world. In addition, many papers include quite a few different scenarios where the issue has been seen. Similarly, Prejudice contains information on all the aspects of prejudice, like its historical context, the theories regarding it, and the ways to reduce it. However, the topics in Prejudice have a wider range of information compared to Discrimination and Prejudice. You can find information on almost any topic. However, a few of the sources that are available to the public are not very reliable. In this paper, after comparing the two website Discrimination and Prejudice and Prejudice, the best source for a student preparing for a speech or research paper would be Discrimination and Prejudice because even though it may not have as much information as Prejudice, the information given is a lot more trustworthy. This is because the information given in Prejudice can be written by anyone regardless if they know information about the topic or not. This differs with the Discrimination and Prejudice site since it is written by individuals with knowledge on the subject, and the information is only published after being reviewed by other knowledgeable individuals. The information on unreliable resources can be shared by letting the people around you understand that not all resources online can be considered reliable.
