Empowerment and Symbolic Interactionism can both be complex, but easy to understand theories if they are read and understood correctly. If one is not careful, these theories can easily be misinterpreted. Not only is it easy to misinterpret, but sometimes they can have multiple meanings outside of social work. The Symbolic Interactionism theory emphasizes how society interpret actions and behaviors, while Empowerment emphasizes the importance of self-confidence and increase of power to improve living conditions.
