Murdering McKinley After reading Eric Rauchway’s novel Murdering McKinley, I believe that his main argument was to say that President McKinley’s assassinator, Leon Czolgosz, was not insane and that his possible insanity could not have been what drove him to attempt the assassination. Had Czolgosz been declared insane in a court of law then he may not have been held fully responsible for his actions. That being said Rauchway also went to a great length to prove that Czolgosz sentence was not due to his Anarchist beliefs and he did describe everyone’s fear of Czolgosz going down as a martyr.
Lewis Powell and George Herold, both apart of Booths Gang were on there way to try and assassinate secretary of state William Henry Seward. Harold waited outside with the horses for the escape and Powell went inside to attempt assassination. He got very close to killing Seward, he stabbed him and cut him all over. But what were the odds that Seward did not die. Everybody thought he was dead so news started spreading fast about the death and assassination.

When Pancho Villa executed sixteen U.S. citizens and ordered his forces to raid the U.S. town of Columbus, New Mexico, killing seventeen Americans and burning the town to the ground, Mexican leader Emiliano Zapata was quoted as saying “Villa has given himself into Carranza’s hands and has provided the Federal Government with a legitimate excuse to destroy him”, this is exactly what Carranza wanted and President Woodrow Wilson order U.S. Army troops into Mexico to capture or kill Pancho Villa (Syme, p.73-74). Still unclear whether Villa actually participated in the raid, this action changed the course of politics between Mexico and America during this very difficult time.

In the book “In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote, Capote blantly describes the murderous acts of two men who killed an entire family they knew nothing about. The Clutters were good people who had no intention on hurting anyone. Dick and Perry, the murderers, had no reason to do this, meaning they had no motive for these actions and they can not be excused for their actions. In the beginning of the book, Capote introduces everyone to the Clutter Family, and a few pages further into the book he introduces everyone to Dick Hickock and Perry Smith.

The industrial revolution was an era that an issue of child labor just started appearing on the surface. The workforce, in the course of Industrial Revolution, was in a soaring demand, as the number of factories proliferated day by day, and as urban areas got industrialized, families promptly migrated from the rural farm areas to the newly industrialized urban areas for the sake of jobs. Because surviving in a city required a great deal of money, the households were forced to send their children to work, which led to a surging increment on the rate of child labor in factories.
