Did you know where you were born affects your cultural identity and even shapes the way we view certain issues? If so, can you find distinct aspects of your own cultural identity that is swayed by where you were born, and how that might differ if you were born somewhere else? Our cultural identity is something almost everyone is unique in and typically everyone has a different view point. Cultural identity is”the system of understanding characteristics of that individual’s society, or some subgroup within that society”. In my opinion is that where a person is from strongly impacts their viewpoints on many issues, and is the backbone to someone’s cultural identity.

This is a story about how an Indian father sends his son to school and his son is labeled a “slow learner”. This aggravated the man and he sents a very lengthy letter explaining how his son is not a slow learner. He brings up that his son was born in India and he explains many different experiences his son participated in and contradicting the claim that his son was a slow learner. He says that his son knows every specie of mird and every migration pattern of those species. He also knows that there are 13 feathers on a perfectly balanced eagle. He may also tell you that there is thirteen months in a year because in his old culture he was taught that there are 13 full moons in a year. He is a very intelligent boy and his father wrote the letter to prove this to his teacher that is son is not slow he is actually probably smarter than some of the children in the class. This is another very important story that I think strongly shows the importance of a person’s background in relation to their cultural
