A Society in The Eyes of Enlightenment and Romanticism The Enlightenment and Romanticism eras had different ideas of what comprises a society. The Romantics valued an adventurous individual, while the Enlightenment movement valued using reason in their society. The Enlightenment, sometimes called the Age of Reason, thought that the individual was less important than the whole society.
