Introduction Though most of the traditional rulers who ruled the world were men, some women wielded power and influence. Some of these women ruled on their own names while others influenced the loyal world as consorts. The women who were believed to have ruled the world in these early days therefore left behind legacy which is even followed in the modern world by those females who want to assume leadership positions in the current world. Examples of the ancient female leaders who ruled the world and had very great influence includes the Tang empress wu zetian also known as the empress wu or as wu Zhao and ruled the china around 690-705 AD. Another world leader was the pharaoh Cleopatra who ruled Egypt around 51-31 BC. Pharaoh Hatshepsut was an Egypt female leader and ruled Egypt around 1478-1458.I will therefore compare Tang empress wu zetian with pharaoh Cleopatra on their basis of ascent to power, method of rule, their achievements and resourcefulness and their similarities and differences. I will also describe the similarities and the differences of the culture of the two leaders. I will also suggest lessons about the different types of effective leadership by a female in the modern world of business and modern politics. After the reign of Pharaoh Cleopatra, Egypt then became a province of the then established Roman Empire. In august 51 BC, the relationship between the Cleopatra and Ptolemy completely broke down. This led to Cleopatra dropping the Ptolemy’s name from the official documents and her face alone appeared in the coins a fact that was against the Ptolemaic tradition of female rulers being subordinate of the male co-rulers. In 50 BC Cleopatra came into conflict with the Gabinian rulers, (Chee & West,
