Who is to Blame? By default, people utilize blame as a crutch in an attempt to pinpoint one cause as the source of a problem. People find comfort in assigning blame, as it allows them to validate that they have done nothing wrong. It is natural instinct to want to find the root of a problem, except when you are at fault.
In "Human Freedom and the Self", Roderick Chisholm has taken a libertarian approach on the issue of free will and determinism. Libertarians believe that humans have free will and make a distinction that free will and determinism are incompatible. Chisholm has the same opinion. The Republican Theory Thus far we have been uncovering different views and perspectives of the universe within the sociological studies. These have included the Utilitarian Theory and the Liberal Theory of Justice. Now our readings have taken us beyond these theories, and has introduced us to an entire new principle, The Republican Theory.
