Obese, weak and downright lazy is that what children should be like? No, they should be confident, healthy and strong that is what competitive sports can do to a child. They are fun and healthy, unlike video games. Video games may be fun, but they are unhealthy because you just sit around and watch a screen. That is why competitive sports are great for children because children are active, but they are still enjoyable. To begin, competitive sports for kids are great for kids because it teaches children discipline, sacrifice, priorities, and heart. In the article “The Benefits of Competitive Athletic Sports Participation in Today’s Sports Climate” made by Kirk Mango and states “Working toward a common goal is an integral part of the sports experience for athletes. It is through this experience that some grow into leaders and others into strong supporters, both of which a team will need to be successful.” This explains how sports are excellent for kids because leaders and supporters in the real world are needed to keep the world going. Children that are leaders can become big people in the world like a CEO, public speaker, and even a politician. If children learn that they are good leaders early in life they can develop their leadership skills to become the best person they can be. Supporters are also needed to support the leaders and everyone else. A great supporter can be a good employee and could get a great job. It is hard to learn if your a good supporter or a good leader on your own, but with competitive sports, children can learn early in life. Sure you can learn on your own, but with sports, you have your teammates which you can either support or lead. If you learn that you are a great leader or supporter without sports it is hard to grow your skills, but with sports, you can increase your skills without even trying with your teammates
