Computer-Generated Imagery In Pixar's Up

When it comes to CGI animated films Pixar is the first thing that comes to mind.
Pixar is widely known for their amazing film making skills and quality images made in CGI, which is computer-generated imagery. Pixar has created in total of 19 films and a variety of different short movies. Among all these movies there is only one that hooks every single viewer in the first ten minutes of the film, Up. Up was made in 2009 and directed by Pete Docter. The film centers on the elderly couple Carl Fredricksen and Ellie Fredricksen and their dream to reach a cliff over Paradise Falls where they could build a house and live together. During the first ten minutes of the story, Pixar was able to create a masterpiece that set the mood for the entire story and allowed the viewers to sympathize with Carl. The shot then pans to the right showing Ellie and Carl speaking to a Doctor at the Hospital, Ellie is on a wheelchair with both of her hands on her face crying, while Carl is there comforting her. This scene shows the very dark moment in their lives, where they discover they had a miscarriage and can’t have kids. After this scene it transitions to a couple of medium shots. It shows Carl handing Ellie a book, this book was called the “Adventure Book”. When they were younger they were planning on writing all their adventures at Paradise Falls in that book. This scene shows the viewers that their dream of building their home at the top of Paradise Falls was not gone. The next scene is a close up that shows Carl setting up a jar in the middle of the living room, and with a small time lapse it shows Carl and Ellie slowly filling up the jar for their dream trip. However, in a series of unfortunate events it shows them breaking the jar to fix the problems they were having.
