Gladwells Ideals
It takes 10 years to become the best, 10 years to become the greatest. What does 10 years have to do with success? According to Gladwell 10 years is roughly how long it takes to put in 10,000 hours of practice. Many people have heard this “rule” that's needed to become successful, but is this really true? Gladwell mentioned multiple interesting points about why 10,000 hours is the golden number for success. One of which being about Mozart, a famous composer, who did not write any of his greatest work until he had been composing concertos for ten years. The first concept is lucky opportunities. In the book Outliers Gladwell explains how many successful people receive luckey opportunities to make people successful in the future. He elaborates on how people who are successful normally did not get there on their own and explains how being at the right place at the right time can be the difference between success and failure. Sergey Brin had many opportunities that led him to becoming a billionaire. When Brin attended college at Stanford university where he met Larry Page and they became close friends. Both Brin and Page created a Page Ranking algorithm to measure the importance of a web page. They later found out that it could be used as a search engine that was way better than the ones everyone was using. This led to their project blowing up and later becoming what we now know as Google. Without Brin meeting Larry Page and attending Stanford Google probably would not exist. The luckey opportunity of Brain Attending Stanford, meeting Page, and creating the algorithm Brin would not be the successful billionaire that he is today. Throughout the book Gladwell continues to list concepts on how people become successful in life compared to others. Another Example of how Gladwell's concepts Relate to Sergrey Brin is 10000 hours of practice. Gladwell explains how being able to have access and practice one thing constantly can lead to success. He expresses the importance of staying with a hobby or certain study that can aid someone greatly in the future. For example Brin was in elementary school but he was also taught at home. Brian's dad was a professor in matrices and his mom was a researcher at Nasa. With his parents both being highly intelligent in their work place they pushed him to learn math and science which he was always around because of his parents jobs. He continued learning math and science throughout his life and got his bachelor
