Wandering thoughts race through my mind as I sit in a sanctuary while the priest declares his homily. Am I being ignorant or is my faith weak? The majority of religion is a blurry gray-area that has no definite answer. Nobody knows anything for sure because it is simply based on faith. Well, at least I don’t; nobody will tell me. We devote ourselves to faith, but do we truly believe in a God or are we conforming to the majority? If something cannot be proven and has multiple flaws, why does 84% of the world believe in it? Finally, the priest finishes his homily and everybody stands. I awake from my trance and join the crowd like a mummy in ancient Egypt.
Tracing any religion back to its origins, somebody formed something out of nothing not knowing what it would turn into. At this point in time, if a person were to create a religion, they would be seen as a fool rather than a genius, yet the concept is essentially the same. What are the qualifications for a religion to be considered rightfully so? As time goes on, more and more interpretations about a religion emerges. Because it is based on judgment, there is no telling which one is correct, or if any are correct. There are thousands of religions in the world. If I was God and I wanted people to solely worship me, I would not create other Gods or religions. They tell us to love our neighbors, but our religions clash. How do I accept their differences without going against my own God?
