The purpose of the Congressional Budget Office, also known as CBO, is to analyze the budget and the economy for Congress. It is a nonbiased group that was created by congress. They do not enforce budget rules or write bills, they are strictly an analytical group. There are many things that the Congressional Budget Office is in charge of. Some of those duties are to determine cost estimates for individual bills. They estimate how much a bill will cost and how much it will bring in in revenue over a five to ten year period. There are anywhere from 500 to 700 bills that are analyzed over a one year period. They also analyze the President’s proposed budget. They offer advice to senior White House officials on policy, management, legislation, procurement, budgetary functions, e-gov, and regulatory (Kroljic, 2014). Within the Office of Management and Budget there are also six positions that are confirmed by the Senate. These six positions include a director, deputy director, deputy director for management, and the administrators of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, the Office of Federal Procurement Policy and the Office of Federal Financial Management (Kroljic, 2014). The largest task that they are responsible for is to prepare the President’s annual budget. The President’s annual budget plan can often run over a thousand pages so it is important that the Office of Management and Budget take this task seriously and makes sure they get it right, even though it could take some time. Besides assisting the President in developing the federal budget, the Office of Management and Budget is also responsible for evaluating federal agencies’ policies, ensuring that agency policies are effective and support the President’s vision, and to provide oversight of agency performance and financial management (Kroljic,
