Why College Isn’t Worth It Attending college is something that many High School students look forward to as a buffer or a way to make the transition into adulthood easier, but a rising question has people considering: Is going to college really worth it? While some describe college as their best years, it leaves most attendees in debt and with a degree they may never use. Between tuition fees, traveling, housing, food, and textbooks, all college students are bound to owe at least a few thousand.
Eric Adams is a Latin Highschool teacher who attended the University of Georgia. He now has a family and can finiaically support them thanks to his multiple degrees in college. He lives in a a large house with his wife and two kids. Eric Adams is a succesful educator and couldnt be ome what he is now without college. With the advanced money he has made he has paid off his student loans and is now is making strictly profit for him and his family.
The fact that not everyone needs to go to college is the main point that Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill write about in great detail throughout their essay. Even though the authors do say that people that go to college usually earn more, they state that this is on “average,” and that the key focus of their essay is to focus on those that the benefits are not greater than the cost of going to college. (Page 211, Paragraph 1). They also include a graph right under the text that shows how “on average” people with a college degree earn more than those that are just high school graduates. (Page 211, Figure one).
In the article it talks about how college does not prepare you for work life but college teaches how to do a specific job. I agree with Harbowski statement because in today’s world of work many companies require you to have a degree, whether it is a bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree. It is true that not all jobs require you to have a degree but, the jobs that do not require a college degree are also the jobs that are more likely to lay those off who do not have a college but do obtain a high school diploma. Others may say that you can make a good living working at job with only a high school diploma. Although, that may be true studies have also shown that you have to work harder than others to get to that comfortable living place and college graduates are much more likely to be employed and earn more than those with a high school diploma.
Some might say that college is a wastes of time and it doesn’t help anyone. Then try convince us that we should focus on our works skills and experience than wasting precious time on college. Also they will point out that college causes you to receive debt. Its true college will cause some debt but it is worth in the long run when people can be financially stable and not have to worry about many things in life, not have to struggle through life.
In conclusion going to college is very much worth it. Getting a degree will not only improve the quality of a job’s pay substantially, but make the job search extensively easier. Knowing this students of all ages can make the right decision when deciding whether or not college is the right choice for them. So as a nation let's build ourselves to be better, richer and smarter people by making the right choice when it comes to our education;

Rotherham’s article “Actually, College Is Very Much Worth it. ”he states, “Meanwhile, in 2010, the unemployment rate was 9.2 percent for those with only some college and more than 10 percent for those with just a high school degree, but it was 5.4 percent for college graduates.” The data Rotherham provides shows that even with some college education, you have a higher chance of getting employed than those with just a high school degree. The one group that outweighs all the others is the college graduates proving that with a college degree unemployment is less likely to befriend people who do pursue college. Some people might say that there are loads of jobs that do not require a college degree, especially in this time and age.
We tend to believe that in order to live happy we must go to college and getting a head start. Yes, I can agree with the fact that college helps us by becoming more advanced and having a little more experience than most. Most jobs today don’t really need experience in order to be successful. For example, Steve Job, he dropped out of college and was still able to become a successful person. Job, had passion and creativity.
