Genre: The film that I analyzed was Slumdog Millionaire. The genre(s) that this film applies to are thriller, drama, and romance. It is considered to be a thriller because several criminal acts take place such as murder, robbery, and trafficking. Such moments in the film offer a "thrilling" effect because the viewer is eager to know, perhaps, the consequences and future outcomes that may come to be. Drama also falls in this category because of the exciting and unexpected events that take place during the plot. In my opinion romance is the most obvious genre of this film. Jamal Malik went on a live television show just to find the love of his life, Latika. Since leaving her in his childhood, he set out to search for her, committing his life for her. Thriller, drama, and romance are all appropriate genres to classify Slumdog Millionaire.

Overview: Jamal Malik is an orphan who spent his childhood and adolescent period in the slums of Mumbai, India. He meets a girl, Latika, and falls in love with her. However, in order to escape from an organ trafficker, he is forced to leave Latika behind and escape into the future that lies ahead of him. He makes it his goal in life to reunite with Latika, his true love. Jamal joins the popular show known as "Who wants to be a Millionaire" in hopes that Latika will see him on television and find him.His …show more content…

Despite his legitimate play style, authorities continue to doubt him because he was raised in slums. Prem, the host of Who wants to be a Millionaire, accuses Jamal of cheating. Prem was fearful that if Jamal were to win the grand prize, Prem would lose his title of being the only contestant raised in slums to win the grand prize of the show.
