When I chose to make an art piece for my project, I decided to incorporate the concept of how Animal Farm by George Orwell represents corruption within the political field. I have decided to make my artwork a piece of split imagery. It shows half of a pig's face and half of a man's face completing each other. The purpose of it is to present how the pigs in Animal Farm, though formally agreeing that man is the enemy, begin to act as how a man would act. In the text, it states, “It was Clover’s voice. She neighed again, and all the animals broke into a gallop and rushed into the yard. Then they saw what Clover had seen. It was a pig walking on his hind legs.” (Orwell 132). This quote shows how slowly but surely the pigs became what was supposed …show more content…
Though she could not truly say anything because of the corruption and power the pigs had over them. Also when the revolution first began and the pigs began to gain leadership over the farm, there were many things that they kept to themselves as a result of selfishness. They did this, yet still were able to convince the other animals that they were in the right. This is one of the things that the men were known for on the farm, selfishness, this was just the beginning of what would soon become a disaster. While Squealer was trying to convince the animals that the pigs keeping the apples and milk to themselves was a good idea, Squealer states, “‘Yes, Jones would come back! Surely, comrades,’ cried Squealer almost pleadingly, skipping from side to side and whisking his tail, ‘surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back”’ (Orwell 36). During this quote, Squealer is convincing the animals that without the apples and milk, the pigs will end up getting sick, which will bring Mr. Jones back to the …show more content…
When things were put into Napoleon's hands, Napoleon was expected to be seen as a higher being. The story states, “Napolean was now never spoken of simply as ‘Napolean.’ He was always referred to in formal style as ‘our Leader, Comrade Napoleon,’ and the pigs liked to invent for him such titles as Father of All Animals, Terror of Mankind, Protecter of the Sheep-fold, Ducklings’ Friend, and the like” (Orwell 93). This evidence demonstrates how the story is representing dictatorship. It is bringing attention to the bad sense of dictating and can also be connected to communism. The point of communism was to bring classless systems into light, which meant production was owned communally and private property would be nonexistent. Not a lot of these rules went to plan, and communism soon turned into a restraint against freedom, just like what ended up happening on the animal farm. As well as when certain animals started to doubt Napoleon's authority, they naturally ended up getting slain by the dogs. During the novel it states, “They added that Snowball had privately admitted to them that he had been Jones’s secret agent for years past. When they had finished their confession, the dogs promptly tore their throats out and in a terrible voice Napoleon demanded whether any other animal had
