In Crash and Bang by Lisa Mcmann the theme that the main characters learn across both texts is bravery. In Crash Julia has visions of a truck crashing into her friend/love Sawyer's restaurant, Julia throughout the story has to build up the courage to risk her life to save Sawyers. In Bang Sawyer now has visions like Julia's, but instead of a car crash his visions are of a shooting at a collage, so just like Julia, Sawyer has to muster up the courage to risk his life in order to save the victims of the shooting. In both the message/theme is that it takes bravery to put others before yourself. In the beginning of Crash while getting ready in the morning Julia is thinking about the vision and what it means, Julia is uncertain and scared because she doesn't want it to happen, because she is not yet brave and able to save Sawyer’s life. “I start getting this recurring wave of nausea. I can’t handle the thought of breakfast right now,- I cautiously flip on the TV, hoping I can find the news and not an creepy encore of last night. Thankfully there's just some morning talk show. No mention of explosion or body bags.”(27) Julia experiences feelings of worry and fear because she has not yet learned the lessons of bravery in order to put Sawyer before herself, and because she isn't brave she can’t …show more content…

Because of these events I believe the theme of both Crash and Bang is it takes bravery to put others before yourself, so next time you're in a situation that requires bravery to help others will you crack under the pressure of learn the exact lesson as Sawyer and Julia, and help
