Chapter 11: Crazy Horse goes on a raiding spree into Crow territory for several weeks along with his brother, Little Hawk, and Red Cloud, High Back Bone, and other Lakota. They dominate every camp they come across and become a real force of the land. Crazy Horse saves many of his fellow warriors over the trip and gains more respect from others. Upon returning home, he receives news that Black Buffalo Woman decided her husband would be a boy named No Water. He becomes heartbroken by her decision and stays in his parents’ lodge for several days. The Lakota find out that the whites set up camps near them for the winter. He learns his younger brother, Little Hawk, was killed by whites and is devastated. Soon after, he marries a woman named Black Shawl of the Red Feather family. Red Cloud returns from a peace meeting with the whites and says he has agreed to move the Lakota to a new territory called “The Great Reservation” to preserve peace with the white people. Many of the Lakota move to the new land except for Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull’s camps. After going out to find a new camp, High Back Bone is killed by Snake warriors. Black Shawl and Crazy Horse have a daughter and name her “They Are Afraid of Her.” Chapter 16: The buffalo begin to be scarce and Crazy Horse has to rely on elk and deer to feed his people. He decides that the whites must be driven out of the land in order to bring back the buffalo. More and more Lakota go off to reservations to receive the goods made by the whites and is left with few people to fight with him. Crazy Horse and a few of his men go to raid a Crow camp to keep their battle skills sharp but fall into a trap in which they escape from.
