Rachel and Nick's relationship in "Crazy Rich Asians" by Kevin Kwan and Daphne and Simon's in "The Duke and I" by Julia Quinn experience similar challenges but somehow manage to make it work. Despite the different time periods and settings, they both have to face societal pressure, family resistance, and their own insecurities in order to find their happily ever after. Ultimately, they both realize that their love for each other is worth fighting for and that overcoming obstacles is equally as significant. In the end, both relationships prove that true love will find a way, no matter how challenging the obstacles are, even if it is family. They both understand that communication and compromise are essential for success. They focus on understanding and supporting each other as they face obstacles. Rachel and Daphne have committed to making their relationships a priority and are doing their best to make time for each other despite the challenges of their families or their partners. Daphne was willing to sacrifice a life with no children because she believed it was "Better to live with the man she loved than to have children with one she didn't" (Quinn 231). Daphne even explains how Simon could never hurt her despite Simon's explanation as to why he can't marry (Quinn 208). In contrast, Rachel realizes how much she misses Nick being around and decided to not let her pride get in the way of her love for Nick. She even explains how she "didn't realize how much [she would] miss having Nick next to [her] at night" (Kwan 530).
