Did John and Lorraine have a positive or negative impact on Mr. Pignati in his last days? The answer is simple. They had a positive impact on Mr.Pignati in his last living days. The Pigman by Paul Zindel is a story about an elderly man whose name is Mr. Pignati and his nickname is the Pigman. One day when John and Lorraine meet Mr. Pignati at his front step they don’t know how much all three of their lives are going to change. Throughout the story the three of them create a truly special bond and when Mr. Pignati dies the other two begin to blame themselves and eachother. When Lorraine and John meet Mr. Pignati he is an old and lonely man. He would tell himself that his wife had left to California with her sister when in reality she had passed away a few years ago. He knew this, but he didn't want to remind himself that he had lost Conchetta. When John and Lorraine began to spend time with Mr. Pinati they made him feel alive and young again.
