In chapter 8, “Gift for the Darkness,” the conch shell, used to call the boys to a meeting, is at the point where its authoritative power has completely diminished, and is no longer the primary concern among the boys on the island. When Jack’s group separated from Ralph’s group, Jack realizes that the only way they can survive is with the use of fire. Jack and his tribe conclude that the only way to get fire is to steal it from Ralph. With spears in their hand, Jack, Maurice and Robert raid Ralph's territory and steal part of their fire. Piggy observed this, “When I saw Jack I was sure he’d go for the conch.

The Lord Of The Flies by William Golding is a book about a plane full of boys crashing on an island. The boys are by themselves no adults so they have to survive on their own and establish their own government. Piggy is one of the first characters we meet as a boy with poor eyesight, a weight problem and asthma so the readers already like him even if no one else likes him. Piggy is the closest thing the boys have to an adult on the island. Throughout the story Piggy embraces the character traits of being intellectually intelligent, Mature and loyal.
Golding uses the word pig in the beginning of the story to show a peaceful creature who shows the slow descent into savagery with the lack of civilization . In an article written by Hussein Tahiri, he writes about how at the loss of civilization, people can become more wild-like than normal, which can be seen throughout their actions. As Jack, Ralph, and Simon explore the forest, they see a pig stuck in the creepers. Jack raises a knife to kill it, but hesitates and the pig runs away. Ralph asks Jack why he did not kill the pig, to which Golding writes, “[he] knew very well why [Jack] hadn't; because of the enormity of the knife descending and cutting into living flesh; because of the unbearable blood” (Golding 31).

Environment Effect The environment affects how people will behave in a specific situation. They can act like a different person because of the physical condition they are in and how it makes them feel. In The Pigman, by Paul Zindel, John changes his personality when he is placed in different scenarios. John acts differently when he is in school than when he is out of school.
Relationships can be defined as a connection, bond or association between two or more people. We will elaborate on the following categories a)parents, b)The Pigman and c)peers in the novel The Pigman by Paul Zindel. Firstly, Lorraine’s relationship with her mom is dishonest because they both lie to each other. Mrs. Jensen abuses Lorraine’s appearance by saying “You’re not a pretty girl, Lorraine.” page 11, which detaches Lorraine from her mom because it makes her feel less loved; but Mrs. Jensen gets overprotective when Lorraine is around men/boys.
