How was the earth formed? There are many thoughts and myths on how our earth was made and it changes majorly from culture to culture. There’s the original God who created Earth and that’s the one most believe here in America. Then there are cultures who believe that the God was a different person or even more than just one person. Some cultures think that the earth was in an egg shell and had to just hatch out. Throughout all these myths there are a lot of similarities. This is going to be an essay about some of the common motifs from the creation myths.
Creations start off with a main creator Motif #1 Every Culture has some dominant power that sets off the events to starting the creation. I believe they had this motif in many of the cultures because something or somebody has to be the one to set off the chain of events to create the earth. Most of the cultures looked up to the main god, they were very loyal to the god. Even along time ago they were made the same way they are today but some cultures still are stuck on believing that people were made in many other ways. I think that this motif was used in many myths because it shows that the people were really part of the earth and that’s why they were made to protect it. Most of the cultures used some kind of organic material to make the people. Some of the materials were corn, water, mud, clay, and some of them were planted in the ground and would grow like a plant. This motif makes me understand that in some of the myths the humans were created to protect and watch over the earth. Some of the cultures that used organic material is the Yoruban and they used clay to make their people. Another culture is the Norse/Vikings and they used mud to create the humans. Then there was the Chinese and they also used mud like the Norse did to make
