“The ones the Feldoni exude during the mating ritual, it affects me as well, fills me with desire, but usually there's no male of my own kind around.”
Angaros grabbed Tommi by the shoulders, “The females! Are the protected, I mean are they all with males?”
“The females outnumber the males by about twenty, the males will get to them eventually.” Tommi opened the door. “Hear the singing now, it's only the voices of the leftover females, they'll keep singing until they're attended to, if you know what I mean. They're roaming around now trying to entice a male who's ready for round two. Why do you ask?”
Angaros stood at the doorway and listened, the singing voices were no longer grouped together, they were coming from different directions.

Angaros moved toward the sound and there was Red, keeping Neph at bay with one of the spears of the Feldoni. A feline looking female lay motionless on the ground and Angaros' blood ran cold. He drew his sword and charged at Red, bellowing in rage. Red threw the spear in Angaros' direction and it hit him in his right shoulder. Angaros lost his grip on his sword and went down, while Neph lunged at Red as he turned to run. Angaros struggled to his knees as the arms of the great ape pulled Red to the ground. Red's shrieks continued and angry Feldoni males swarmed toward them from every direction. Angaros, with a surge of strength, pushed Neph aside and raised his sword. Before he could strike, a spear pierced his back and he dropped to his knees, Angaros used the last of his fading strength to sever Red's head from his neck, then he fell forward onto his enemy's bloody corpse.
The males surrounded the three intruders with spears at the ready. Neph's rage had dissipated upon Red's death and he pulled the spear from Angaros' back and sat down beside him, he rolled the man over and cradled his head in his hand and hooted softly as the Feldoni looked on, unsure what to do next. Tommi pushed her way through the males and walked around the circle between Neph and the Feldoni.
