The very first sentence of the chapter makes me believe that the setting is obviously in Oklahoma and a little while after the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889. It makes me believe that because of the way that the narrator writes and him/her calling it “the red country and part of the gray country,” which is referencing the red, white, and gray sand often associated with the state. Later on in the first page, the narrator begins to describe a drought taking place. Perhaps the drought will last a long time and lead to the narrator and his/her family moving somewhere more viable. On the second page, the narrator describes “wheels” milling the ground, which leads me to believe that he/she lives
Dr. cooper goes into the local city and buys ammunition for everyone 's rifles and pistols. They are all in a tent getting ready and they decide they should sleep, but wake up at dawn to attack. In their sleep, Ben arba is taken. Waking up to find this only aggravated them more. They have already taken one friend, No more!

what is it that makes us feel the need to escape? Eventually, Rabbit understands that he is traveling nowhere and turns around to find his way back to his hometown. This whole event, of running away from family, is highly criticized

She never looks back, the only indication her father was still behind her was his ragged breathing above her head, forming puffs of air in this cold morning. She suddenly stumbles on a root, but her mother secures her fall with a small wisp of air. They lock hands, all three of them, and continue pushing themselves, desperately trying to find the others they lost on the way.
