December 2nd, 1944 - Belgium Forest 'The Battle of the Bulge '

I awoke to the deafening sound of gun fire in the distance, "Just another day," I said, I looked around to watch if anyone was there. "Mornin ' sunshine" said the Sergeant, "You 're on watch duty today, hope you don 't plan on going anywhere," He joked. I watched as the Sergeant began to wake the rest of the company. I quickly hurried, trying to find my gear, I grabbed my gun and rushed out of the fox hole. "Hey Sarge," I said, "wheres the watch tower you found yesterday?" "about 500 feet to the west" said Sarge. "Was werden wir tun mit ihm?" someone said "Ich bin nicht sicher, der Oberst" another voice said. I looked around and I was in a small dark room, it had the smell of blood in the air. "The American is awake," I looked up and saw a very tall, stern, scruffy man. He had the look of death in his eyes. Just the sight of him made my stomach turn. "You are now a prisoner of war" He barked. My eyes lay blank with confusion, "Where am I?" I said with confusion, "Somewhere you really don 't want to be." My stomach was in nots now, my head was very dizzy and filled with questions. "Get up!" he said. I got up and my hands were tied together, the man directed me to a chair by a large tree. I sat down and he began to ask me questions. "Where is the rest of your group?" he asked "I will never tell you" I said. "Well" he sighed "We will figure out some time" "Now get some sleep" He yelled. I layed my head down on the cold dark ground as the rest of the Germans layed down for bed. I lifted my head up and realized there was a soldier guarding me, he had his gun pointed at me but he was hunched over sleeping. I slowly got up and looked around everyone was sleeping I began walking as slow as a turtle. "The prisoner is escaping!" a soldier yelled. I then began running for my life, I got to a wide open field and ran to the tree line on the right. There was a big pile of brush in the tree line, I ran to it and hid in it.
