In the film, Crimes and Misdemeanors, there are several characters from whose identity can be tied into an ethical view or perspective. For instance, one of the major characters within the film is known as Judah Rosenthal. Judah is the type of character who wants everything, but does not want to lose anything. Reputation, marriage, money, and even an extramarital affair are factors that contribute to Judah's definition of the word everything. One of the reasons Judah has for wanting an extramarital affair is the excitement that comes from having two women that worship him. However, the affair Judah was having with the women by the name of Delores all failed, when Delores became too obsessed with Judah because she was lonely and insecure from the start. He mainly called his brother because that was the easiest way to get rid of the problem at hand. Instead of dealing with the problem the way Judah did, Judah could have chosen another option for handling the situation. For example, rather than just having Delores killed, Judah could have simply just told his wife about the affair. This option could have led to him not being exposed to the word, and also could have given him the chance to work out any issues that were occurring within his marriage. Another option could have been to just simply leave his wife. This is because if he was unhappy in his marriage from the start, he should of just have worked it out or leave because there was no reason to stay in an unhappy marriage. Although he ended up realizing that he loved his wife more than the mistress, Delores. Instead of choosing any of the previous options he just killed Delores off. After he sees Delores dead, Judah began to question the old religious teachings he had learned from his childhood. This led him to be concerned with the consequences of his actions, which made him fear that by him doing wrong, according to the word of the Lord, he shall be punished.The
