Cesare Lombroso “claimed that about one-third of all offenders were born criminals” (qdt. Encyclopedia, 2002). Criminology explores many theories that try to explain the influence of organizations, society, and peers in a person’s behavior. Some theories claim that a criminal behavior can be biological—a person is just “born evil”. Many of the violent offenders receive their name by less violent crimes seen on T.V. shows—giving a punch to a person who later will need stitches. This is because a violent offense is an umbrella that covers “offenses [that] involve force or threat of force” (FBI, 2010), but all this resulting in a harm or an injury to a person.
