Individualism is when an individual is different than everyone else in their actions, thoughts, and opinions. The government can punish those who act differently than how the rest of the populace acts. They can give the person a trial or secretly deal with the problem. Similarities That American Society Shares With Ancient Greece Ancient Greece produced many patterns and fashions that America has imitated. This civilization, more than any other, has molded what Americans observe and use architecturally today. Everywhere people look, they can see designs from Ancient Greece in this country. America has been inspired and influenced by the Greeks; therefore, there are replicated ideas of ancient Greece seen in many of America’s buildings. In the United States’ capital, there are buildings, especially the Capitol, which have borrowed ideas and patterns from some of Greece’s structures.

The ideas I hear and experience today come from individualism. The ideas of collectivism and the ideas of what I hear around today are not that alike. In fact, they are quite different. The idea of collectivism focuses on the thought that the individual’s life exists not for him but rather for the group or society of which he is solely a section of, that he has no entitlements, and that he should give up his qualities and objectives for the gathering's greater good. According to collectivism, the gathering or society is the fundamental component of virtuous concern.
When you look at the literal definition of democracy in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, there is a decently large explanation. When looking at this definition and trying to decide whether the Athenian democratic system was truly democratic, one would have to go with the answer no. While it has been stated that Athens is the “cradle of democracy”, and that it was better than any of the other governments in the world, it was still a work in progress. The Athenian democracy, while it did give more power to the people, still left a lot of citizens out. The current American democracy may have steamed from Athens, but they do not really have that much in common.
Collectivism is when there’s total social and environmental control in a society and no one is allowed chose for them self. Individualism is when one has to chose to do something by him or herself.
