They get smarter, they know how the world works around them and they know how to interact with the people living beside them. Loneliness is a worldwide epidemic. It causes people to practically go insane, many people going touch starved if they are placed in an empty room for an hour or two. In John Steinbeck’s book Of Mice and Men, one character, a black stable boy named Crooks, is discriminated against, and because of this, has a paucity of companionship.
