Food in daily life for a Cuban is rather simple. My friend Vanessa Gutierrez, who is Cuban helps to explain the normal cultural lifestyle. Vanessa Gutierrez was born in the United States, but her parents are from Cuba, specifically from Santa Clara. The normal daily diet in Cuba is rather simple. The book That Infernal Little Cuban Republic, focuses on the relationship between both Cuba and the United States. A lot of the contention between Cuba and the United States stems from the American view that every country is in need of our assistance. The author details how American officials asserted themselves into Cuba and with their presence in most cases did more harm than good in reference to the Cuban population. The book highlights that the U.S. government supported many policies in Cuba that were undemocratic leading to their citizens suffering politically, economically, and socially. After Castro took power the relationship between the two governments suffered immediately.

However in Marcos Millions by William Sleator, the creatures have to convince Marco to trust them with his little sister, Lily. Although Aliens on Vacation and Marcos Millions have similar settings, they have different conflicts and themes.

Oates purpose is to warn readers of what could happen when an adolescent go through the rite of passage.
The purpose of this paper was the fact that Jamaica Kincaid felt as though tourism in the land are only seeing the greater good of the land that they were visiting. Tourists are not seeing the side where the native families are struggling to get by. Are they trying to persuade the reader to adopt a new belief or habit, or to stop doing something? Jamaica Kincaid is trying to persuade the readers of her essay to understand why tourism is such a bad thing.
The Treatment of Women in Literature Since the beginning of time, women have always been considered less than or inferior to men. Although, the treatment of women has improved tremendously and women are seeing more opportunities than ever before, we still have a long way to go. Until recently, the majority of published writers were men and the depiction of women in literature was mainly one sided. No matter what time period or culture, women in literature usually take the back seat to men. The once popular TV drama series, Twin Peaks, which was created in 1990, and Joyce Carol Oates’s short story “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?,” which was published in 1970, but was probably written in the 50s or 60s, are perfect examples of this.

This summer I went on a mission trip with my church to Cuba for one week. We visited our companion church which is located in Los Arabos, It is four hours away from Havana. While we are in Los Arabos the people of the community were nice enough to let us live in their homes for a week. This was my second year going and it was a lot of fun helping the people and giving back to the community. Los Arabos is the complete opposite of Havana, its more farm land and open greenery while Havana is more touristy.
