Cursive Hand Writing

There are many reasons why cursive is an important tool in life, and many reasons why it's also not so important. Today I will be presenting my side on the topic of whether cursive should be a requirment, or whether it should be overlooked. My goal at the end of this essay is to provide you with s little more knowledge over cursive, and what many americans think of this skill.

There are many pros when it comes to writing in cursive. One of these pros, is the ability to understand, and remeber ideas better that you are being presented. "writing by hand helps induviduals remeber ideas better than typing" says the article "Cursive is a Powerful Brain Tool". Also, another pro of cursive hand writing, is that it "requires students to summarize ideas rather than simply recording every word their teacher says". A con of cursive, is that not many teachers still teach cursive in their classrooms, and some dont even practice the writing themselvs. At a handwriting conference in the year 2012, there was a survey conveyed to teachers about whether they use cursive still, or do not use cursive. "37% of teachers wrote in cursive. If handwriting teachers don't value cursive, then why should anyone"? So as you can see, many teachers don't practice cursive writing, and that's making people see less of the value in cursive. Another con of cursive, is that technology is on the take-over. Most of the legal signatures for documents, and papers that were once needed before, had to be performed in cursive. Now with all the technology out their in the world, most of the sigantures are done electronically. "The truth is that cursive writing is virtually gone".
