"Just get what you need, and get out," Daisy repeated her mother's words to herself in a mutter, continuing to make her way down the rough, cement road briskly. The sky was nearly pitch black by now; the time was passed midnight. But, her mother sent her out to the store to pick up some milk and bread, since a dangerous rainstorm was supposed to come early tomorrow morning.

Daisy Charlotte Adams was only sixteen years of age, living alone with her mother, Natalie Adams, in an old, rundown apartment in Sydney, Australia. Though she originated from a small town in Canada, she and her mother were forced out by her own father, who had a long history of violence towards Daisy and her mother.

It was hard for the two to make it alone, especially with all the crimes that surrounded the area. Murderers, burglars, and gangs were everywhere, and nobody was safe from their brutal attacks. That's what Daisy was scared of, after all. Being killed, and leaving her mother all alone. She avoided looking behind her, as her eyes would surely cause an illusion of danger. There was no snow in Sydney, even though it was late December, which made it easy for Daisy to make her way around. Suddenly, a car horn beeped.
