A dance director's main responsibilities are to direct and manage the entire dance company as well as the choreography for dances. They are professionally trained in one or more disciplines to assist everything regarding their company, project, etc. This can include inspiring the creative vision for the dance company through plans and strategies, setting the artistic directions, negotiating deals, securing contracts, conducting auditions, and handling the selection of dancers, choreographers, and dance instructors. The reason these skills are needed is because a director of dance needs to have an understanding of the many things that come with not only being a director but a director of specifically dance.
