In Dante’s Inferno, the ideas of justice, good and evil, and suffering in hell are implied. The idea of suffering in hell and the idea of justice are closely related. Dante indicates that those suffering in hell have committed crimes that are being punished in a reasonable way and that we should not have pity for them. He uses the setting and his organization of hell to transmit these ideas and his philosophy regarding these ideas. The organization of hell helps us understand that Dante believed it was a person’s poor decisions and not cruel fate that got a person in hell.
Dante begins this journey to find God. To reach Dante 's goal, Dante passes through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise. Dante and Virgil enter the gates of hell and descend through the nine circles of hell. In each Circle, sinners are punished differently according to what you have done. In the first circle are virtuous non-Christians and unbaptized pagans who are punished with eternity in an inferior form of Heaven.
"The Inferno" is the first book in the epic poem called the “Divine Comedy” by the Italian politician Dante Alighieri and it is followed by "Purgatorio" and "Paradiso”. The book "Inferno", which is the Italian translation for Hell, tells the journey of its author through what he believes is Hell, which consists of nine circles of pain and suffering. In his journey, he is guided through the nine circles by the Roman poet Virgil. Each circle in the book represents a different type of sin with a different type of punishment, varying according to the degree of the offense they committed in their life. By the end of his journey through all of the circles, Dante realizes and emphasizes the perfection of God's Justice and the significance of each offense towards God’s unconditional love.

To begin with, Dante’s “Inferno” is a piece of literature that describes Dante’s journey through the underworld with his guide Virgil. Dante and Virgil journey through the nine circles of Hell, and within each circle people are being punished for a sin that they committed in their earthly lives. Each circle serves as a different punishment depending on the sin that that person committed. In the first circle of Hell, this is known as Limbo where people who were not able to be baptized or not taught about God have to go.

The final thing seen here is the fact that Dante’s description of Satan is a bit disappointing compared to the other descriptions he has written about the inferno.
Biography Dante Alighieri's life outside of the public was not well documented; we know so little about his private life that his birth date must be estimated from his writing. According to L'Inferno, his journey began halfway through his life, which can be assumed to be the average of seventy years. As his journey started in the year 1300, his birth year is around 1265. Dante's family was fairly well off in society: his father Alighiero Alighieri was a moneylender and a property holder. When Dante was young, his mother Bella passed away; Alighiero remarried and had two more children.

The picture of Satan satisfies the reader because he shows that he is the opposite of god and that he is full of evil. Lucifer is the demon in the circles of hell which he has three faces, and bat like wings in which he creates the cold wind where the sinners suffer. “The face in the middle was red, the color of anger. Jesus has descended into Hell and granted salvation to the souls in Limbo with hope. With the absence of these saved souls, every soul left in Hell has no hope of salvation. The sigh that states “Abandon all hope ye who enter here” acts as a warning for only the souls damned to stay in Hell for all of eternity (I, III, 31). No matter what ring of Hell a soul is punished within, the loss of hope is part of their punishment. Dante is one of the few that enter Hell that retains hope.
While reading Dante’s Inferno readers must understand that none of the sinners are innocent. “By this way no good spirit ever passes” (“Commedia: Inferno”). It is also very important to understand that the sins themselves are not the reason they are condemned to Hell. The reason they are condemned to Hell is due to their failure to repent and ask for forgiveness of these sins. “In Dante’s faith, a soul can only be saved by turning to God for forgiveness” (“Commedia: Inferno”).
There is many interpretations of Heaven and Hell. Some imagine hell as being a place where the absolute wicked are tortured from all eternity, made by the Devil himself. A common depiction is that souls end up in Hell as punishment. In the final part of the Divine Comedy, Dante reflects on free will, and its perfection as a gift. It is this gift that Dante believes is Gods greatest gift to humanity.
Dante’s Inferno represents a microcosm of society; meaning, laymen, church, politicians, and scholars are all compiled into one place and punished for their sins. Hell, despite being depicted as brutal, ugly, and chaotic, is made realistic because the inhabitants come from every country and every walk of life. While Dante Alighieri did not invent the idea of Hell itself, he did create an important and in depth concept that still receives attention in biblical, classical, and medieval works. The Divine Comedy itself was written sometime between the years 1308 and 1321 and scholars still consider it the “supreme work of Italian literature.” The work itself is an epic poem divided into three separate sections: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso; respectively Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven.
