In the poem “Casey at Bat” and story “David and Goliath,” a comparison of David and Casey shows differences and similarities. The differences are that David could have been killed in his situation and in Casey’s, he will be safe and will get paid either way. David was fighting a giant and could have died, and Casey was just playing a baseball game. Both had problems to face, and both had that task finish and only one of those people did their job. Both of these characters had confidence, David knew that with God he could kill the giant and Casey was a little over confident because he waited to his last chance to attempt to hit the ball.
One similarity is the situation these two narrators are put through.
Although an outcome may seem imminent, one should always be prepared for what may come next. “Casey at the Bat,” a captivating poem detailing the events of an unfortunate baseball game for the citizens of Mudville. The poem was written in 1888 by Ernest Lawrence Thayer, an American writer, and has widely been recognized for being the most influential and famous baseball poem of all time. The poem begins with Mudville being in a slump within a baseball game, dreading the impending outcome and loss that they have to suffer. After a few promising starts from Jimmy and Flynn, Casey goes up to bat.

Instead of regretting and despairing, Pi and Louie both persevered to live on. However, there are more differences than similarities. Such as how Louie was in a plane, and Pi was in a lifeboat.
Trying to compare something that has nothing in common, it is not easy. Surprisingly, the end product can show you unique similarities. For example, the classic book called “The Most Dangerous Game” is about a man who loves to hunt, meets a another man who shares the same interest. Later on, Sanger Rainsford finds out the other man known as, General Zaroff, loves to hunt humans as a game, and Rainsford realizes he is next to be hunted. Another classic movie called High Noon is a western film about a marshal named Will Kane who is trying to save his town from Frank Mitchell and his gang, who are after him.
Another similarity is the main conflicts. Both main characters are outnumbered when it comes down to trying to stay alive. One out of many differences in the stories is the themes. One protagonist has to fight for just himself and the other has a whole town to fight for. Even though High Noon and “The Most Dangerous Game” are very different stories, there are several similarities between our two protagonists and in the conflict; there are also many differences between all of the themes.
“Casey at Bat” is written as a poem, however the subtitle to the poem is “A Ballad of the Republic sung in 1888.” This poem is written with an AABB repetition and it has 13 quatrains. It has an ease about it that makes it very simple to read and understand. Overall, it does have an upbeat tone and mood, almost over exaggerated, despite the loss at the end. “Casey at Bat” has great imagery that can easily illustrate a story.
The Hunger Games and The Goonies are alike and different in the way they show the hero’s journey in their stories. An example of this is the Test/ allies/ enemies, ordeal, and reward. Each of the parts of the Hero’s Journey shows how the hero’s Journey is in many stories. In the test/ allies/ enemies part of the hero’s journey in the Hunger Games and the Goonies there are multiple differences and some similarities.

Unlike Gatsby, Romeo is a poor man who must prove his love to Juliet through compassion and good deeds. Gatsby, on the other hand, not only proves his love through compassion but also throws extravagant parties to win Daisy over with his wealth. Though the two characters carried an unconditional love for another woman, both were forbidden from being with their companion.
