An enduring issue is an issue that has existed over time that many societies have tried to improve. One enduring issue in history that has affected society is population growth. Population growth started during the Second Agricultural Revolution. It was a problem for people to keep up because it was increasing so rapidly. Population growth led to technological changes. (OI) As the population grows faster and faster, the earth cannot keep up. The impact of population growth on society can present itself in several ways. The maximized demands on resources led to conflict and scarcity. The increased demand for housing, food, and other goods led to price increases and economic problems. The growth of populations also has a negative impact on the environment. Producing enough needed food to satisfy the needs of the people was their priority. Distributing the food equally was even harder to do. Distributing an equal amount of food is an obstacle because of poverty and scarcity. Poverty grows worse as the population keeps increasing. Population growth has continued to grow and people have continued to use up the earth’s resources. Climate change is an issue caused by humans and their disregard for the planet. Humans have used up so much of the earth’s resources that it poses a threat to all things living. Animals are becoming extinct and their habitats are being lost. Humans need to expand and build more places to live because there is not enough space for everyone due to population growth. Sanitation conditions have improved but there are still places where they have not improved. Third-world countries lack food, clean water, and shelter. Scarcity has been a problem for a long time.
