In S.E. Hinton's book The Outsiders, Johnny Cade killed Bob Shelton in a form of self defence. Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade where at the movies with Cherry Valance and they are Socs. Bob Shelton, Randy, and 3 other Socs surrounded Johnny and Drowned Ponyboy and Johnny had to kill Bob Shelton to save Ponyboy Curtis. My the reasons that Johnny is not guilty of murder are, Ponyboy was being drowned by the Socs and if Johnny did not stab Bob then the Socs would have killed Ponyboy. Johnny defended Ponyboy. The socs had a blade and were gonna beat Johnny up.
