In the United States there are two major parties involved in our political structure, Democrats and Republicans. Since 1836, these two parties have dominated the political scene and Democrats and Republicans have controlled Congress and the presidency since 1860. Now, within these two parties there are people with progressive and conservative ideologies. These ideologies are not confined to only one political party, but instead are largely based on the individual’s opinion and perspective. Generally speaking though, most conservatives are Republicans and most progressives are Democrats.
Final Essay Social policy’s main purpose is to ensure the wellbeing of humans. This policy includes various topics such as civil rights, gun policy, recreational drug use, and even women’s rights. In his essay, "The Death Penalty," David Bruck hypothesizes that the American people will eventually find that the death penalty is not the best way to punish a convicted murderer. Bruck develops this hypothesis by countering all pro-death penalty arguments with previous cases and specific statistics that apply to the argument. David Bruck's purpose is to persuade the readers to think for themselves on the topic and use what they know as a basis. Bruck uses an educated tone to establish credibility with the reader. He takes apart the views of the local mayor in an attempt to prove anyone wrong who might disagree.

In the other hand republicans believe that they should be more independant and have the governor not have take so much role in their lives. To begin with republicans and democrats have many things that are different.
The national Republican and Democratic parties share similar values in comparison to their stately counterparts. Democrats on both levels are seen as more open-minded and liberal in their values and beliefs, while Republicans on both levels are seen as strict and conservative. The two levels relate to one another, creating a very seamless and strong message. Even though there are multiple similarities to one another, there are differences between national and state party platforms. The overarching difference between the two ends up being that state political parties spend more time and effort on local personalities and issues, while the national parties spends more effort on larger, more pressing issues.
Many people are not into politics, so they are unsure what the differences are between the Democrats and the Republicans. Both parties though, dominate America’s political landscape, but are exceedingly different from each other. Democrats are people who believe in the political or social equality of all people; Republicans are people who favor a republican form of government. The death penalty is a controversial issue that has been debated in the United States for a long period of time. In our own state of Texas, executing convicted criminals has become second nature. This is due to the fact that Texas has executed more people than any other state in the United States since 1976. So why does Texas lead the United States in executions? There are many reasons and factors that has led to this point.
This issue is important in the US because some feel as some innocent individuals died because of the death penalty, while some feel as if it 's worth it. The Libertarian party is also divided on the death penalty but the representer for the Libertarian party decided against the death penalty, another widely known Libertarian, Ron Paul is against the death penalty. Their reasoning, well above all is it has something with the government in a person 's life. Also the spending, and they feel as there have been innocent people killed, they also feel as if it violates their constitutional right, the other basic factor of a Libertarian, constitution.
They believe that taking away guns will prevent gun violence in America. Democrats support abortion and the women’s right to choose whether or not to keep their baby. The LGBT receives strong support from the Democrats and Democrats lobby for their rights by passing federal laws. Social issues is probably the topic the two parties disagree on the most, but they do agree occasionally. Republican and Democrats are both strong supporters of voters’ rights.

Abortion is a topic that many people have different views on and feel strongly about. It’s also a very heated topic within the government parties, with the disagreement of each one’s views.
