The painting appears to have levels of designs on both side of Saint Francis, giving impression of a library. This indicated to me and others that the teaching of religion is central to all group and class. Saint Francis is the main focus and the details shows his work during at time. (Finkelstien) Furthermore, the colors and details on the Saint Francis Altarpiece is aesthetically pleasing.
“Dance me Outside” by W. P. Kinsella tells the story of little Margaret Wolfchild, an eighteen year old Indigenous mother who is brutally murdered by Clarence Gaskell at the Blue Quills Dance Hall (21). The film by the same name attempts to convey a similar message, but there are key differences such as overlooking the Gaskell’s trial. The broader scope of film allows for the story to be told through multiple perspectives, aiding in rounding out the characters and providing them with a realistic dynamism. In her book “Iskwewak Kah Yaw Ni Wahkomakanak” Janice Acoose criticizes Kinsella’s portrayal of Indigenous women, particularly a character from a different story of Kinsella’s named Linda Starr (69). Acoose asserts that Kinsella “exhibits
This chromatic scale in the harmony helps to build up to the climax of the piece dynamics wise, where there is a strong forte before Debussy goes back to the calm that came before the modulation. And right before we revert back to the opening theme, we see a repeat in the rhythmic cell that is prevalent throughout this section. At measure fifty-one, the music is similar to the opening theme with ornaments throughout the theme. However, the measure begins with an ascending iii chord leading into the theme, giving a dissonant feeling with the previous section being unsolved.
Art painting air warfare seems to be the biggest controversy with the Second World War Official War Art Program’s declaration of accuracy. “You could paint a wounded man. You could express in the contortions of his body and the taut lines of his face the extremity of his suffering. The correct insignia and a suggestive background would show what breed of combatant he was, whence he came, where he was.” However, air warfare was different.
There will be two images being discussed in this essay. The first image was called “9/11/2001” by Art Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly. The second image was “What So Proudly We Hailed” by Carter Goodrich. The reason these images were chosen was because they have many differences, but they also have a lot in common. This essay will contain the color, date, prices, color, and what are the similarities and differences between these two images.
Dr. Zimbardo stated how the concept of de-individuation was a study of twenty three cultures; some soldiers had changed their appearances of their cultures. In this video, study shows how the changes in the appearance have had happened, and multinational, killing and torture score was too high, which was ninety percent at the time. Also, it shows that among the twenty three cultures only fifteen had changes of their appearances, sadly only twelve of the fifteen tell us how it was ninety percent of killing and torturing. Dr. Zimbardo stated in his video that how people behave badly when you give them power without the supervision, which is the prescription of abuse. There is no humanity and there is no mercy what they have done to them.
There is one specific picture in my room that represents me in every way, shape, and form. This picture is of the historic Rock of Cashel located deep in Ireland’s beautifully green countryside. The photo was of a large chunk of stone and brick that had fallen from one of the steeples after a severe storm. The chunk was the back wall of the king’s suite and the ceiling of the once immaculate chapel below.
The lining in the skin makes the painting look more realistic and the lighting brings out the dimensions very well. The lining is overlapping which shows the movement in the painting. The triangle shape begins at the top of Mary’s head and down the back of Jesus contacting to the bottom of her hands and coming around her shoulder. Spacing is very important
The paintings give myself the feeling that there is a pit in my stomach and makes me want to look at something more uplifting. The colors makes the painting have a darker and gloomier feel. The painting of the soldiers marching to battle shows the men going into the fog, disappearing like ghosts, and raises the thought that maybe Dix was trying to imply that the men would be marching to their death, only to become ghosts and to disappear forever. The center painting is what draws the viewer’s attention to a deadly battle. It shows no survivors and with very little open space in the painting.

Debussy broke the mold so to speak in the 20th century of music by breaking away from the typical German style laid out by composers such as Beethoven as he often explored dreamy and distant sound worlds in an effort to stand out amongst his earlier peers of the classical period. He began to be drawn to the sounds of the pentatonic scales, whole tone scale, and sounds otherwise known in Asia as his music in comparison often contained a rather circular motion which broke away from the formers heroic cadential style of resolution. This breaks his music away as his was more of an ambient and distant much like the impressionist art movement happening at the same time being led by the likes of Monet and Van Gough. The Sunken Cathedral by Debussy exhibits many traits of the new impressionistic forum of 20th century composers as he exhibits many methods to place the listener into a dream-like state using melodic variation and connectivity amongst voice leading in order to achieve a watery type effect. This effect makes the listener feel as if they are floating along with the piece itself as he adds complexities to the music with the slow harmonic variation throughout the piece.
INTRODUCTION Debussy and his love for the mysterious realm of the antique are epitomized in his piano duets Six Épigraphes Antiques. The work evolved over an extended period to become a prime example of his style of composition. The poems Chansons de Bilitis written by his close friend Pierre Louÿs (1894) inspired Debussy to compose firstly Trois Chansons de Bilitis (1898) three songs for soprano and piano, then Chansons de Bilitis (1901) instrumental music to accompany the reading of a selection of Pierre Louÿs poems, and finally Six Épigraphes Antiques (1914) for piano four hands and eventually reduction for solo piano. These works contribute to a musical language that continues to influence and shape music today. Debussy was originally
The Matrix is a sci-fi action film, it reflected the world in a bad relation between human and robotic. The main character Neo save the world, and fight with robot. The Matrix is a personal heroism Hollywood movie, it showed the unique characteristics of the music and a good interpretation of the film. The film soundtrack penetrated the suspense style incisively and vividly, especially network technology, the variety of electronic music, advanced film characters’ style which all are quite fit, sometimes people cannot figure the true or false, the actual situation and network is often closely interwoven. The fierce industrial metal music makes people to be feared, under the rule of the brutal machinery world, while those filled with death of
He employs kinesthetic and organic images in “swollen legs, moving with fear” (5). He is trying to depict the feelings of the Jews in the ghetto before the raid. They were always afraid of being captured. Their life was controlled by other people and this is one of the reasons why they now suffer from complex trauma. Furthermore, he uses an auditory image in “The shouts of the Raiders, enjoying the hunt” (8).
Introduction Roger’s and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music is arguably one of the most well known films that many can admit to watching at least once in their lifetime. People all around the world have found this musical inspiring, as it documents growth and hope amidst the horrors of World War II. This incredibly well written film is based on the story of the Von Trapp family who escaped Austria when the Nazis invaded it during the war. Part of what made this movie so interesting on so many different accounts was the music that accompanied the vivid and exciting scenes. Without music, many could agree that our world would be a sad, quiet, dull and depressing place.
